Feast of St. Aelred
A number of us from St. Stephen’s (StSt) were part of the wonderful gathering of over 100 at Wednesday night’s Feast of St. Aelred service and dinner, held at St Matthew’s Episcopal Church, to acknowledge and celebrate the good work of “Integrity.” Our own Fr. Dennis is the official Chaplain for the Portland Chapter and was part of coordinating the beautiful ceremony – with included smoke in high Episcopal tradition, of course!
And more thanks…
On Saturday, we pick up a new refrigerator and a new freezer for our meals program. This brings the total to 8 units for cold storage! Thanks to Oregon Food Bank for donating the fridge and freezer. Thanks to the great StSt Table crew of Kelly Laslie, Tom Bartlett, Kevin Gardner and Robert Ashenburner for getting them from the Food Bank and into the basement. Thanks to John Wittwer for making sure we have all electrical hookups we need. And thanks to Alan Ashenburner for cleaning up and painting our cleaning supplies corner at the top of the basement stairs. Thank You for the service you are bringing StSt and the guests of our Table and Pantry!
This Sunday

This Week at St. Stephen's
Got pictures?
Faye Taylor is working on our 2012 Parish Directory and is looking for new pictures, particularly of the Installation Service for our new Rector. If you’ve got photos of recent events at the parish, email Faye at ftayler@comcast.net. Thanks!
Looking for mid-week refreshment?
Every Wednesday, 12:15pm, St. Stephen’s (StSt) will hold a 30-minute, mid-week Eucharist in the Chapel, led by Fr. Dennis. Come for an intimate celebration of God’s Feast for all of us. Brings friends and colleagues. All are invited and welcome at the Table. If you can help as a reader or other role in the service, email Fr. Dennis at revdennisj@comcast.net.
Want to help StSt Table?
It’s time for our 2nd benefit concert with Operation Nightwatch (ONW) and Portland Chamber Music (PCM): Saturday, Jan. 21, at 8pm. Funds raised support our 3 programs. Our last concert celebrated ONW’s 30th Anniversary and raised $2,000. This concert highlights the work of our StSt Table meals and pantry program. Celebrate with Integrity, Next Thursday, Jan. 12, 7pm
The LGBT-supportive group in the Episcopal Church, called “Integrity,” invites everyone to their third annual celebration of Integrity’s patron saint, St. Aelred of Rievaulx, on his appointed feast day, January 12, 2012, 7pm, at St Matthew’s Episcopal Church (11229 NE Prescott St., Portland, OR 97220). Two years ago the priest and a majority of the congregation voted to leave the Episcopal Church and abandon the Anglican Communion, largely because of disagreement over the full inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons in the life and sacraments of the church. The preacher on Jan 12 will be The Rev. David Brauer-Rieke, Bishop of the Oregon Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. A feast follows the service.
